Who would go hiking when it rains? It is cold, the vision is bad, the ground is slippery. It is only enjoyable for frogs and snails and we will not give any advice like “best trails for rain lovers”. But even you try to pick a good day, sometimes rain still comes straight to you and give you some heavy drops of Hong Kong style. So how do we carry on?
We don’t mean umbrella is useless but, when it comes to hiking, always choose a raincoat over umbrella, and put it on right away. It is because we all know how fast it can change from drizzle to downpour, and we probably don’t know bare skin keep warmth better, compared to skin under wet clothes.
In this case, a two-piece raincoat works best, although the pants might be sagging. Yet, a pair of suspenders is more than
enough to solve the problem.
It is just annoying to have raindrops on glasses. That’s why we need a cap or a hat with wide brim to cover them up for goodvision. Don’t just depend on those professional gore tex boots, wear a pair of leg covers then you can really stay dry in your shoes.
The same applies for your backpack. It doesn’t matter what waterproof material it is made of, you still need a rain cover for it. To be further secure, put your belongings inside plastic bags or airtight containers, such as lunch boxes which is most suitable for films, lighter, medicines, and food.
Stay dry and safe!
